Smoking Cause of Afternoon Fire

Fall River, Ma. On February 17th around 3:15 in the afternoon, firefighters responded to 846/848 Second St. for a smoke investigation. On arrival Engine 4 reported "smoke showing from the A/B corner of a two and a half story wood frame". Engine 4 brought an attack line up the exterior fire escape to the third floor landing where the fire was located. A second attack line was brought up the interior stairs. Fire crews chased the fire to the attic, where it was extinguished. Investigators believe someone smoking on the fire escape was the cause of the fire.
