January 30, 2026 — The Lanesborough Fire Department announced Thursday that the 2026 Lanesborough Ice Fishing Derby has been postponed due to extreme cold temperatures and snowy conditions affecting the lake. Originally scheduled to take place earlier in February, the popular community event will now be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026. Department officials emphasized that participant safety remains the top priority, citing hazardous ice and weather conditions as the primary reasons for the decision.
