CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — February 3rd — Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services responded early Tuesday morning to a residential structure fire on Lewis Road in unincorporated Cherokee County, near Canton. Firefighters arrived to discover the residence completely engulfed in flames and immediately began suppression operations as EMS workers assessed occupants on the scene.
Three people were evaluated, and one was taken to a neighboring hospital in stable condition. One household dog died in the fire, while another survived. The cause and origin of the fire are still under investigation. Officials highlighted that this was the county's second residential structure fire in a 12-hour period. Fire Chief Eddie Robinson advised homeowners to check smoke alarms and make sure family members understand how to respond in an emergency, noting that working smoke alarms continue to save lives.
