Baker County Fire Rescue has announced that despite recent rainfall, the county's burn restriction will remain in effect, citing persistent dry conditions and an increased risk of wildfire. Fire officials stated that the meager rain did not increase ground moisture levels, and dry vegetation continues to generate dangerous fire conditions throughout the region. The government is encouraging citizens to cease all outside burning, particularly of trash and debris. Escaped debris fires remain one of the most common causes of wildfires, spreading rapidly in dry and windy conditions.
