Fatal Fire Reported on Breman Avenue

On January 21, Escambia County Fire Rescue arrived at 8:56 a.m. to a reported duplex fire in the 900 block of Breman Avenue after receiving multiple calls reporting heavy smoke, flames, and possible entrapment. Fire and EMS teams arrived to find extensive fire damage in the multi-residential structure. Firefighters conducted suppression and search operations. During the internal search, rescuers discovered one victim, who was confirmed dead. The fire was brought under control by 9:42 a.m. Both units of the duplex sustained significant damage. One resident was displaced and received help from the American Red Cross. The Escambia County Sheriff's Office, Florida Power & Light, and Emergency Services Gulf Coast Ladder 34 all aided at the incident. The Bureau of Fire and Arson is investigating the cause.
