At 4:27 p.m. on February 2, the Lincoln Fire Department received multiple calls reporting a residential building fire at 95 Phillips Road. The first responders arrived to find a large fire in the front of the house. Due to conflicting indications of probable entrapment, the assignment was escalated to a second alarm as units responded.

Crews conducted a 360-degree inspection and determined that all occupants had exited. Firefighters advanced handlines and launched an internal attack from the front, while additional firefighters stretched a second line to the back, where conditions were better. Due of the isolated location and severe conditions, tankers from other departments were required. Water was transported from the Penobscot River boat launch, about three miles away, and a dry hydrant was also used.

Crews ran out of water during operations and fled the building until the supply was restored. Firefighters later reentered and prevented the fire from spreading to the addition. The primary living space was completely destroyed, although elements of the expansion were salvaged. Three cats died in the fire, and one dog escaped. The American Red Cross helped the occupants. The Maine Fire Marshal's Office deemed the fire accidental. Units began clearing the site at 9:34 p.m., and Lincoln returned to service later that evening.
