February 9, 2026 —Members of the Wilcox Volunteer Fire Department joined firefighters from the Johnsonburg Fire Department and Jay Township Volunteer Fire Company on Sunday evening for specialized confined space training at the Domtar training facility. The hands-on session focused on operating in tight quarters and low-visibility environments, reinforcing critical rescue techniques and safety procedures. Firefighters practiced navigating restricted entry points, utilizing air management strategies, and coordinating team movements under simulated hazardous conditions. The collaborative training provided an opportunity for crews from multiple departments to strengthen interoperability and refine the skills necessary to safely manage confined space emergencies. Officials noted that ongoing joint training exercises are essential to maintaining readiness and ensuring the highest level of service to the communities they protect.
