The Barnstable Fire Department has reported that its new Engine 3 has completed final assembly at Pierce Manufacturing and is now in testing.
Pump certification, road performance tests, and system verification are all part of the testing procedure to ensure that the apparatus meets NFPA standards. In two weeks, members of the department's Capital Improvement Committee will go to Appleton, Wisconsin, for final inspection and testing. Departments can visit the factory to confirm specifications, equipment layout, and operational features prior to delivery. Once accepted, Engine 3 will return to Barnstable for outfitting, training, and deployment to the Barnstable Fire District's front lines.
