Multi-Agency Response to Erie Street Collision

CAMBRIDGE, MA — January 19th — A car crashed into a building on Erie Street, prompting the Cambridge, Massachusetts Fire Department, 491 Broadway, Cambridge, Massachusetts, 02138. Group 2 included Engine 2, Ladder 3, Squad 2, Rescue 1, and Division 1. Crews assessed the building for damage, steadied the vehicle, and looked for any dangers.
In addition, firefighters made sure the area was safe for both responders and residents by securing utilities as a precaution. Pro EMS, Cambridge Inspectional Services, MIT Police, and Cambridge Police provided on-scene assistance. Inspectional Services evaluated the structure to decide what to do next. Coordinated efforts are needed to address structural issues, fire danger, and life safety in vehicle-in-building collisions. The cause is still being looked into.
