CAMBRIDGE, MA — January 17th — Early in the morning, the Cambridge, Massachusetts Fire Department (491 Broadway, Cambridge, MA, United States, 02138) arrived to 2 Forest Street, Box 45-627, to respond to a working fire. Upon arrival, there was a fire in the basement of the two-story multi-residential brick and wood building. While firefighters evacuated inhabitants, conducted searches, ventilated the building, and started overhaul, companies set up water supplies and extended attack lines.

Engine 1 put out the main body of fire and moved the first line to the basement. Several residents were displaced, but no injuries were reported. Temporary refuge was supplied by staff from The Abbey in Cambridge and housing was secured by the American Red Cross of Massachusetts. Somerville and Belmont covered stations. The cause is still being looked into.
