Canton, CT — February 4th — TLast week, the Canton, Connecticut Fire and EMS Department responded to a catastrophic chimney fire on Olson Road. Fire authorities said the event serves as a reminder that chimney fires may swiftly spread into walls and attics. Common warning signals include a loud roaring sound, strange noises, or visible flames emanating from a fireplace or chimney. Residents who suspect a chimney fire should contact 911 immediately rather than the usual department numbers. Fire authorities underlined the need of having a certified professional inspect and clean chimneys on a regular basis. Preventative maintenance is still an important aspect of winter fire safety in our community.
