January 25, 2026 — As a winter weather event impacted the area, the Bay Shore Fire Department remained on active standby and responded to numerous calls for service throughout the community. Beginning at 6 a.m., volunteer firefighters staffed apparatus and prepared for emergency operations as snow and hazardous road conditions developed. Throughout the day, crews handled multiple incidents within Bay Shore, assisted Brightwaters EMS on a medical call, and provided mutual aid support by sending an engine to North Babylon Fire Company. Firefighters continued to monitor conditions and remained ready to respond as the storm progressed, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation during severe weather.
Department officials reminded residents to clear snow from around nearby fire hydrants to ensure quick access in the event of a fire emergency. They also urged motorists to remain off the roadways unless absolutely necessary to allow emergency vehicles to travel safely and efficiently.
