Chazy, NY — January 30 — The Chazy Volunteer Fire Department responded at 9:02 AM to a reported commercial structure fire on Ratta Road. First arriving officers reported a large 30-by-100-foot building with heavy fire showing. Engines established an initial attack and deployed a portable pond, supplied by a tanker task force. Due to sub-zero temperatures, hydrant system failures required crews to draft water from the Little Chazy River and utilize a hydrant in the Beekmantown Fire District. A tower truck from District 3 was requested to assist with suppression. Multiple regional departments and agencies responded to support operations. Firefighters faced frozen equipment and water supply challenges throughout the incident. No injuries were reported, and the fire remains under investigation.
