Bergenfield - At approximately 5am, February 10th, 2026, Bergenfield firefighters along with automatic aid from Dumont were dispatched to 107 Roosevelt Ave for a reported basement fire. Chief Ryan Zadrozna arrived on scene with heavy smoke from the basement and requested a working fire assignment. Engine 1 hit a hydrant and laid into the scene and stretched an initial attack line to the basement. Firefighters were met with heavy fire and made an aggressive interior attack. Additional lines were stretched as fire extended to the first floor and vented from the delta side. A second alarm was transmitted as command ordered the evacuation of all companies. A 3rd alarm would be requested as firefighters hit the heavy fire from the exterior as crews regrouped to re-enter the dwelling. Firefighters were able to knock down the heavy fire on the first floor and basement, but not before the fire extended to the second floor. Englewood truck vented the roof just before fire vented from multiple windows on the second floor and eventually though the roof. Multiple lines were used to bring the fire under control as firefighters chased fire though the balloon frame home. Mutual aid from Dumont, Englewood, Teaneck, New Milford, Tenafly, Closter, Cresskill, River Edge and Oradell. No injures were reported and the cause remains under investigation.
