BAY SHORE, NY - On early Monday morning, January 5th, the Bay Shore Fire Department responded to reports of a vehicle fire at the 7-Eleven located on 5th Avenue in Bay Shore. Chief of Department Ippolito arrived on scene within minutes and determined the incident was caused by a mechanical issue involving the tractor-trailer’s braking system.
Firefighters from Engines 3-1-6 and 3-1-5 deployed thermal imaging cameras to assess heat conditions and utilized a booster line to safely cool the locked rear trailer brakes. The coordinated response prevented further hazards, and the situation was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes. No injuries were reported, and no additional fire department action was required once the trailer was stabilized.
