During the last week of January, Binghamton Fire Department members received technician-level confined space training from instructors from the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services. The multi-day workshop featured classroom teaching as well as hands-on scenarios on hazard recognition, atmospheric monitoring, rope systems, patient packaging, and advanced entry and rescue tactics. The confined space technician training is the state's highest level of instruction, preparing firefighters for events with limited access and hazardous conditions. The department thanked NYS instructors and participating members for their commitment to continued training and operational readiness.
