Brevard County Ocean Rescue Announces Lifeguard Tryouts for Summer 2026

February 4, 2026 — Brevard County Fire Rescue is preparing for another busy summer season as Brevard County Ocean Rescue opens recruitment for new lifeguards. Officials announced that lifeguard tryouts will take place on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Gleason Park in Indian Harbour Beach.


The department is seeking motivated individuals ready to help protect Brevard County’s beaches, noting that all selected candidates will receive professional training through the Lifeguard Academy. Applicants must be at least 16 years old by the first day of the academy, scheduled for late May or early June. Tryout requirements include a 500-meter swim in 10 minutes or less, a one-mile run in 10 minutes or less, and completion of 30 push-ups.


Brevard County Fire Rescue encourages those interested in public safety, fitness, and beach protection to apply online ahead of tryouts.
