Just after 3:30 p.m. on January 15, the Port Washington Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at the Beacon Hill Bungalows on West Shore Road. Assistant Chief Patrick Saccoccia arrived to locate smoke and confirmed a working basement fire by transmitting a Signal 10. Engine 8513 was the first to arrive and used a relay water supply due to the distance from the nearest hydrant. The fire was located in a crawl area beneath the structure, which had no direct access. Crews cut through the main floor to reach and put out the fire. The crisis was brought under control in approximately an hour. The residence was unoccupied, and no injuries were reported. Multiple neighboring departments assisted, demonstrating strong mutual-aid coordination.
