Six Years Since Burlington's Ed Marbet passed

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

On this day approximately six years ago many of us will never forget where we were and what exactly took place. Some of us responded with out even knowing where we were going and whose house was actually on fire. But sadly enough we soon were to find out and for a few it was going to be their first fire that they would never forget.

Ed Marbet was a life long resident of Burlington Nj and he was definitely known by all. Ed was very tall and a big guy but at the same time a very gentle man. He cared about all and seemed not to have any enemies, growing up around him was great because he would ward of the bullies in the neighborhood.

Ed was a amazing firefighter and a great leader. Ed taught with out teaching and led by example, he was always the first one through the door and the last guy to leave at any fire. Something till this day that many of us not only practice but preach to our younger firefighters and future officers.

It goes without saying that if you were having a bad day around the big guy, he was definitely a shoulder you could cry on and one that you wouldn't leave without laughing.

With all this being said, Ed you are truly missed and you leave behind many great memories. So many stories are still told around the station about how many funny and crazy things we all did together.

Your legacy will live on, till we meet again brother...till we meet again...
