Friday, February 7, 2026 — Gainesville Fire Rescue crews responded to a working structure fire at the Carver Garden Apartments off Southeast 15th Street on Friday. Firefighters arrived to find active fire conditions within an apartment unit and immediately initiated an aggressive interior attack. Crews were able to quickly knock down the fire, successfully confining damage to the apartment of origin and one adjacent unit.
Thanks to the rapid response and coordinated operations, the fire was prevented from spreading further within the multi-unit building. No serious injuries were reported as a result of the incident. Fire investigators worked to determine the cause of the fire following suppression efforts.
Gainesville Fire Rescue officials used the incident to remind residents of the importance of working smoke alarms. Smoke alarms should be installed on every level of the home and inside sleeping areas, tested monthly, and replaced when batteries or units expire. If an alarm sounds, residents are urged to get out immediately and stay out.
