February 4, 2026 — Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) firefighters completed their annual live fire training during the month of January, conducting a series of hands-on exercises designed to strengthen operational readiness and firefighter safety.

The training focused on three core skill areas critical to emergency response: forcible entry, search and rescue, and radio communications. Firefighters operated in controlled live fire conditions, allowing crews to practice real-world decision-making, coordination, and fireground tactics in a safe training environment.

Live burn evolutions included advancing hoselines, forcing entry into secured structures, conducting interior searches, and maintaining effective radio communication under simulated emergency conditions. These scenarios are intended to reinforce teamwork and ensure firefighters are prepared to respond effectively during high-risk incidents.

ACFR officials emphasized that live fire training plays a vital role in maintaining proficiency and confidence, particularly in situations involving structural fires where conditions can change rapidly.

The department credited its training staff for planning and executing the exercises, noting that ongoing training is essential to protecting both firefighters and the communities they serve.

Alachua County Fire Rescue conducts regular training throughout the year to ensure personnel remain ready to respond to emergencies across the county.
