Boston, MA — January 13th — According to IAFF Local S-2, which has its headquarters at 162 Harborside Drive, Massport Engine 1 was sent to the City of Chelsea on mutual aid in response to a third-alarm fire. In order to help Chelsea Fire Department workers working at a large-scale event, the response increased staffing and equipment.

Increased resources are usually needed during multi-alarm fires in order to continue operations and keep coverage throughout nearby towns. In Massachusetts, fire agency operations frequently include mutual help responses of this kind. Chelsea Firefighters Local 937 and Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts were among the statewide and regional groups that provided help for the response. In order to guarantee efficient operations during significant incidents, fire departments and labor partners continue to collaborate.
