Old Saybrook Firefighters Train on Building Shoring Techniques

Old Saybrook, CT — January 27th:Members of the Old Saybrook Fire Department attended a training session Tuesday night that focused on shoring measures for buildings at risk of collapse. The drill was meant to strengthen skills utilized during structural instability occurrences.

The department's Training Division walked members through several building methods and stabilization choices for immediately supporting vulnerable structures. Firefighters practiced assembling and placing shoring systems under simulated conditions similar to those found at fire and rescue scenes. More than 30 firefighters took part in hands-on evolutions during the session. Training officials stated that regular technical rescue drills assist personnel perform safely and effectively when confronted with damaged or unstable buildings. Ongoing training remains a key part of maintaining readiness for both routine and complex emergency responses.
