Woman Killed in Three-Car MVA in Town of Newburgh

NEWBURGH, NY - On February 7th at approximately 9:40 A.M., Town of Newburgh Police responded to the area of Rt. 300 and Union Ave. for the report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries. 


Arriving on scene, police found a three-car accident with one injured driver. Investigation shows a 2019 Ford box truck was northbound on Rt. 300, approaching a curve in the roadway near the intersection of Rt. 300 and Union Ave. Ext. The box truck was being driven by Luis Cintron, 49-years-old from Philadelphia, PA. Near the curve in roadway, the 2019 Ford appears to have crossed into the southbound lane and struck a 2019 Dodge Ram driven by Michael Gessner, 37-years-old from Wallkill, NY. After the Ford and Ram collided, the 2019 Ford continued driving northbound in the southbound lane and struck a 2016 Ford Edge, driven by Tureli Quinci, 68-years-old from Poughkeepsie, NY.


Quinci was treated by first responders at the scene, then transported to St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff. Cintron received medical care at St. Luke's Hospital for minor injuries and was released.


The road was shut down for several hours during the investigation. TNPD was assisted by NYS Police Accident Reconstruction Team, along with Central Hudson and Mobile Life Services. There are no charges at this time while the investigation continues.
