One Home Destroyed, Second Damaged in Weston Fire

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

WESTON, CT - On Saturday, February 4th at 1:20 P.M., the Weston ECC received reports of a structure fire at 16 Hemlock Ridge. Arriving units observed fire through the roof of a very large two-and-a-half story private dwelling.

Arriving units found a well-involved house with fire throughout the residence. Firefighters attempted an interior attack, however their efforts were thwarted by dangerous fire conditions and a roof collapse. A defensive attack was mounted due to fire conditions and water supply issues. Unfortunately, much of the house was completely destroyed in the fire, but most of the garage was able to be saved, however.

During this call, at 3:22 P.M., Weston ECC received a report of a structure fire at 45 Davis Hill Road, about 550-feet from the original fire building. Several officers responded from Hemlock Ridge, and on their arrival, confirmed a working structure fire with fire showing from the roof of another large two-and-a-half story private dwelling. Firefighters from Westport and Wilton arrived on the scene with apparatus and were able to quickly get water on the fire and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the home.

Firefighters from Weston, Wilton, Westport, Ridgefield, Redding, Georgetown, Monroe, Easton, Trumbull, Danbury, and Shelton provided manpower and tankers to these fires. Thankfully, there were no injuries to firefighters or occupants of the homes. The Weston Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of these fires.
