Barre, MA — January 25th — At a reported basement fire at 17 Healdville Road, the Barre Fire Department helped Hubbardston firemen. When Hubbardston units arrived, the first story of the house was heavily smoke-filled. After crews entered and discovered a fire in the basement, a working fire was started and further mutual aid resources were called for.

At the time of the occurrence, five residents were at home and managed to safely leave. Two residents were sent to a nearby hospital for a smoke inhalation assessment. Three cats were taken out of the house by firefighters, and one of them was given oxygen. Suppression, EMS transport, and scene operations were assisted by mutual aid departments.
