Ridge On February 4, 2022 at around 9:30 PM the Suffolk County’s Emergency Dispatch Center activated the Ridge Fire Department for a report of a structure fire on Watermill Way. Fire dispatchers advised they were taking multiple calls for a fire in a house under construction. On arrival a working fire was transmitted by Chief 5-22-30.
Initial reports were that it was believed someone was in the house due to a car in the driveway. Firefighters braved frigid temps and snow and quickly stretched a line and made an aggressive attack so they could make entry to do a search. The Fire was primarily contained to the 2nd floor. In addition to lines being stretched the tower ladder was placed into operation. It was determined that the vehicle belonged to the builder who was not at the home at the time of the fire. Rocky Point FD also assisted on the mutual aid. No injuries were reported, the scene was turned over to the Fire Marshal to investigate.
