At 7:20 am on Tuesday, 2/3/26 the Griswold Fire Department with Jewett City Engine 156, Ladder 156, Voluntown Engine 253, Tanker 353, Lisbon Tanker 154, Plainfield Engine 195, Preston Engine 21, Taftville Engine 22 FAST and American Ambulance were dispatched to 1470 Hopeville Road for a garage fire. Car 55 arrived at 7:28 with smoke showing and reported a machinery fire inside of a metal garage.
Engine 253 stretched an 1.75” hose line and prevented the fire from taking over the building. ET 155 arrived next and tied into Voluntown with a 3” supply line. Engine 156 then tied into ET 155 and gave them their tank water. North Stonington provided station coverage and the Griswold Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
