Charlton, MA — January 20th — As part of its ongoing S.A.F.E. Program, the Charlton Fire Department in Massachusetts taught a fire safety training at Charlton Elementary School on January 20. Firefighter Renee Patient focused on identifying typical domestic risks in her lesson, "What's Hot and What's Not," for kindergarten and first-grade pupils.

Every month, kids in pre-kindergarten through fourth grade participate in the S.A.F.E. (Student Awareness of Fire Education) Program at Charlton Elementary School and Heritage School. The focus of the lessons is on danger awareness, safe decision-making, and fire prevention. The program is run by Firefighter Patient, who satisfies NFPA 1035 requirements by completing Public Fire and Life Safety Educator training from the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services. The initiative enhances community readiness and promotes early safety education.
