January 21, 2026 — The South Berwick Fire Department has announced multiple full-time openings for Firefighter-Paramedics and Firefighter-EMT/AEMTs as the department transitions to a fire-based emergency medical services model with 24/7 staffing.
The move marks a significant operational shift aimed at strengthening emergency response and ensuring consistent, around-the-clock coverage for the community. Officials say the new structure will enhance coordination between fire suppression and EMS operations while improving service reliability.
Positions offer a 42-hour work week with a rotating schedule, competitive hourly pay with credit for prior full-time service, and a comprehensive benefits package. Benefits include a 20-year retirement with no minimum age requirement, sick time, vacation, and personal days.
