Auburn, MA — January 6 — The Auburn Fire Department, responded to eight emergency calls within a one-hour period on January 6th, prompting increased staffing and mutual aid support. Incidents during the hectic time included fire responses and a motor vehicle accident. To maintain coverage and manage numerous simultaneous calls, mutual assistance ambulances were brought into town, and off-duty firefighters were recalled to staff apparatus and assist with operations.

Regional mutual aid agreements and established recall procedures are used to manage short-term surges in call volume. These solutions guarantee firefighter safety and service continuity while enabling departments to retain response capabilities. Mutual aid units were released and recalled troops resumed their off-duty status once the call volume stabilized. After that, the Auburn Fire Department started operating normally throughout the neighborhood.
