February 2, 2026 — The Aroostook County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) completed its first Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training of 2026 over the weekend, bringing together residents for hands-on emergency preparedness instruction.
Participants received instruction across a broad range of topics, including the fundamentals of CERT operations, light search and rescue, disaster medical care, terrorism awareness, and Stop the Bleed techniques. The course combined classroom learning with practical exercises designed to prepare volunteers to assist during emergencies and disasters.
CERT programs strengthen community resilience by equipping residents with the skills needed to support first responders and help their neighbors when professional resources may be delayed or overwhelmed.
Aroostook County EMA plans to offer additional CERT classes throughout the year. Residents interested in future training opportunities are encouraged to follow EMA updates on social media or contact the agency directly at eoc@aroostookema.com for more information.
