On January 26th, the Delmar Fire Department spent the evening cleaning snow and ice from fire hydrants throughout the neighborhood. The maintenance was conducted between calls as part of continuous winter readiness measures. In an emergency, clearing hydrants makes it easier for firemen to get water. Snow buildup around hydrants can delay connections and impair fireground operations, especially during winter weather events.
