Council Honors Oceanville Firefighters for December Condo Rescue

At a Galloway Township Council meeting on January 27, members of the Oceanville Volunteer Fire Company received recognition for their response to a structure fire that occurred on December 10, 2025, in the Smithville area of Galloway Township. The 100 block of Waterview Drive is where the incident took place.

Firefighters Nicholas Stewart and John Parker entered a blazing condominium complex to reach and retrieve an unconscious man occupant, according to statements made during the hearing. The sufferer is still recuperating after being saved and taken to the hospital.

Chief Uhl emphasized the importance of training and coordinated action during the presentation, pointing out that this was the second life-saving rescue by Galloway Township firefighters in less than six months.Along with other mutual aid partners who supported operations throughout the township, the company also thanked Pomona Volunteer Fire Company No. 3, Bayview Volunteer Fire Company, Germania Volunteer Fire Company, South Egg Harbor Fire Company, Galloway Township Ambulance Squad, Galloway Township Police Department, and Galloway OEM.
