January 2, 2026 — The Yarmouth Fire Department reported that 2025 was the busiest year in its history, responding to a total of 8,355 incidents across the town, reflecting a continued rise in demand for emergency services.
Department officials noted that B Shift began the year responding to 40 calls before midnight on January 1 alone, setting the tone for a year of unprecedented activity. Since 2000, call volume has increased by 67 percent, a trend attributed to community growth and increased service needs.
In 2025, the department handled 6,981 rescue and emergency medical incidents, along with 96 fires, 205 hazardous condition responses, 295 service calls, and 593 false alarms or false calls. Additional responses included good intent calls, overpressure and overheating incidents, severe weather events, and special incident types.
Fire officials emphasized that behind every call is a resident, family, or business in need of assistance, and credited continued community support for allowing the department to train, equip, and staff its members to meet growing demands safely and effectively.
As Yarmouth continues to grow, department leaders stressed that sustained community support will remain critical in the years ahead to ensure the highest level of emergency response and public safety.
