Bourne Fire/Rescue has released its 2025 Emergency Incident Summary, reporting a total of 5,362 emergency responses over the year — officially marking 2025 as the busiest year in the department’s history.
The data shows the department responded to 4,121 medical emergencies, 105 fires, 225 hazardous situations, 23 rescue incidents, and 195 public service calls. An additional 683 calls were determined to involve no emergency, while crews assisted law enforcement on 10 occasions.
Department officials noted that this year’s statistics may appear different from previous annual reports due to a significant reporting system transition. On July 1, 2025, Bourne Fire/Rescue moved from the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) to the National Emergency Response Information System (NERIS). The change coincided with the implementation of a new Records Management System and was made in advance of NFIRS officially sunsetting on December 31, 2025.
While the transition affects how incidents are recorded and categorized — including the elimination of traditional incident number codes — officials emphasized that it does not change the types of incidents the department responds to or how emergency services are delivered.
Bourne Fire/Rescue thanked the community for its continued support and reaffirmed its commitment to serving the town with professionalism, pride, and dedication.
