January 23, 2026 —With temperatures dropping and significant snowfall forecast across the region, the Harrisville Fire Department announced that the Jesse Smith Library will serve as a warming center for residents without heat or electricity. The library, located at 100 Tinkham Lane in Harrisville, will remain open during regular operating hours to provide a safe, warm space for those in need. Officials are urging residents to check on elderly and at-risk neighbors, prepare by stocking food, water, and necessary medications, and avoid delaying winter readiness. Burrillville residents needing warming assistance outside posted hours are encouraged to contact the Burrillville Police Department’s non-emergency line for additional support.
