January 23, 2026 — The Chopmist Hill Volunteer Fire Department has released its Annual Chief’s Report for 2025, detailing a record-breaking year in emergency response and community service. The department responded to 525 incidents between January 1 and December 31, 2025, marking a 27.1 percent increase in call volume over 2024 and the busiest year since the department reopened in 2011. Calls ranged from medical emergencies and service calls to fire incidents and hazardous conditions, with an average turnout of approximately six members per alarm. Of the total responses, 15 were confirmed structure fires, including seven within Scituate and eight handled as mutual aid. The report also highlights the extensive work performed by department members beyond emergency responses, including training, equipment maintenance, station duties, and overnight EMS coverage under a new duty night schedule. Chief Keith R. Brown expressed appreciation for the dedication and commitment of the officers and members who supported the department throughout the year.
