Members of the Chepachet Fire Department conducted hands-on ice rescue training alongside students from Ponaganset High School’s Firefighter/EMT program, focusing on safe and effective response techniques for cold-water and ice emergencies. The training emphasized proper use of ropes, rescue boats, and specialized safety equipment, with strict protocols in place to ensure no participants entered the ice in turnout gear or without appropriate protection. The collaborative exercise provided valuable real-world experience while reinforcing the dangers of ice conditions and the importance of preparedness during winter months.
