January 23, 2026 — With a significant winter storm approaching and dangerously cold temperatures forecast across the region, the Coventry Fire Departments, including Western Coventry Fire Department, announced that fire stations will serve as designated warming centers for the public. Forecasts issued by the National Weather Service warned of extreme cold and hazardous conditions, with wind chills capable of causing frostbite in a short period of time. In response, local fire officials urged residents to prioritize safety, limit unnecessary travel, and seek warmth if they experience heating issues or power outages. Community members were reminded that assistance is available and encouraged to contact Western Coventry Fire Department at 397-7520 with any questions or concerns. Fire officials emphasized their commitment to keeping residents safe throughout the storm and asked everyone to remain weather-aware and check on neighbors who may be vulnerable during the severe cold.
