After natural gas service was introduced to the town, the Alloway Township Fire Company sent out a public safety advisory to the locals. Natural gas is a safe and effective energy source when utilized correctly, according to fire officials, but residents should be aware of the fundamental safety precautions. Residents are warned to leave the area right once and refrain from using phones, switches, or appliances if they smell gas. Dialing 911 or contacting the gas provider are safe ways to make emergency calls. Additionally, the department advised locals to stay away from open flames near suspected breaches and to avoid attempting repairs to gas lines. Residents are advised to call 811 to have subterranean utilities designated prior to any excavation or construction.
