As Winter Storm Fern hit the area, the Chatham Township Volunteer Fire Department filled its station early in the day. To guarantee continuous coverage during the storm, firefighters stayed on duty. Since the beginning of the event, workers have responded to many occurrences throughout Chatham Township while traveling in the snow. During significant storms, staffing the station facilitates faster turnaround times and helps sustain response capability in situations when road conditions may impede transport.
