Jan 13 — Boonton Township, NJ: Vehicle extrication operations were the focus of the Boonton Township Fire Department's monthly drill. During the training, members reviewed fundamental skills and reaffirmed their acquaintance with departmental equipment frequently utilized in auto accidents.

Firefighters trained using a grip hoist, vehicle stability using rescue struts and extra cribbing, and controlled lifting with air bags while constructing cribbing during the drill. In order to facilitate patient access and removal during extrication situations, crews also went over how spreaders, cutters, and a ram work. Tactical Resource Fire Training LLC joined the department, and instructor Jason Rivera helped with practical training and skill development. To guarantee that best practices are in line with current rescue standards and to offer additional viewpoints, outside instructors are frequently utilized.
