January 26, 2026 — Evans Center Volunteer Fire Company members were dispatched at approximately 11:20 p.m. Monday night to provide mutual aid assistance to the North Evans Fire District at a structure fire in the hamlet of Highland. Crews responded with Engine 2 and operated on scene under challenging winter conditions.

Firefighters stretched a second hoseline to the rear of the structure and conducted interior overhaul operations to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and to prevent rekindling. After completing assigned tasks, personnel returned to service safely.

Department officials also used the response to remind community members that the Evans Center Volunteer Fire Company remains ready to serve and is actively seeking new volunteers interested in joining the department.
