December 23, 2025 — The Chaffee-Sardinia Fire Company officially placed two new Stryker LUCAS 3 mechanical chest compression devices into service, enhancing the department’s ability to provide advanced care during cardiac arrest emergencies.
The devices were introduced following hands-on training conducted Monday night by Stryker representatives, allowing members to practice rapid deployment and operation. Designed to deliver consistent, high-quality chest compressions, the LUCAS 3 significantly reduces physical fatigue on first responders and allows crews to focus on other critical resuscitation tasks such as airway management and ventilation.
Department officials noted that the majority of the purchase cost was covered through generous community donations during the company’s fund drive, enabling the addition of this advanced equipment without impacting the department’s operating budget. Fire company leadership expressed sincere appreciation for the continued support of the community, emphasizing that these contributions directly strengthen emergency services and improve patient outcomes.
