Armor Firefighters Assist at Early-Morning Mutual Aid Structure Fire in Severe Winter Conditions
January 20, 2026 — Armor Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. responded in the early morning hours to a mutual aid structure fire alongside the East Eden Fire Company on Keller Road. Armor firefighters were initially dispatched at 4:54 a.m. to standby at Eden’s firehall, but as the incident evolved, Engine 2, led by Chief Schmid, was reassigned first to provide standby coverage and then directly to the scene. Despite rapidly falling snow, whiteout conditions, and single-digit temperatures, Armor Engine 2 arrived on scene at approximately 5:36 a.m. Crews assisted with overhaul and cleanup operations before returning to service at 7:15 a.m., immediately responding to an in-district EMS call.
Armor Volunteer Fire Company continues to thank its members for their dedication and reminds the community that new volunteers are always welcome. Interested individuals are encouraged to reach out via social media or email armorvfcrecruitment@gmail.com for more information.
