December 29, 2025 — Amid ongoing winter weather and the potential for power outages, the Angola Volunteer Fire Department issued an important public safety reminder encouraging residents to be prepared and informed if electrical service is disrupted.

Fire officials stressed that downed power lines should never be touched and should always be assumed to be energized. Residents were urged to report outages and gas or electric emergencies directly to utility providers such as National Grid and NYSEG, or to call 911 in life-threatening situations from a safe location.

The department also reminded the public to use generators safely and only according to manufacturer guidelines to prevent fire hazards and carbon monoxide poisoning. Officials emphasized that awareness and preparedness are key to staying safe during periods of high winds and severe winter conditions.
