Brooklawn, NJ — Jan. 27 — At the station at 100 S. Wilson Ave., members of the Brooklawn Fire Company carried out a planned training exercise. Members first practiced stretching the new hose load carried on the front of Engine 3443 as part of the drill, which covered a number of operational skills. The training was moved indoors to continue operations due to the weather.

After deploying and repairing hose lines, firefighters put on SCBAs and full protective gear. To improve movement and air management while in the air, crews practiced masking up, stretching hoses, and navigating a tiny obstacle course. Additionally, members went over how to connect to the SCBA buddy breathing equipment. In order to reinforce regular maintenance and safety measures, the drill ended with a review of appropriate air bottle filling techniques using Utility 3445's cascade system.
