December 30, 2025 — The Hammonton Fire Department shared insight into its long-standing badge number tradition, highlighting how each firefighter is issued a unique number that remains with them throughout their active service. These numbers are held exclusively by the member until they leave the department, retire, or pass away, at which point the badge number may be reassigned to a future generation of firefighters. An exception is made for Chief Officers, who are issued position-specific badge numbers during their tenure but retain their original badge numbers once they return to non-chief status. For the 2026 year, Chief Macri has been assigned badge F900, Assistant Chief Perna (Company 1) F901, and Assistant Chief Day (Company 2) F902, continuing a tradition that honors both service and legacy within the department.
