City of Hackensack Fire Department — Jan 22: Residents and responders in the region were informed by the City of Hackensack Fire Department that a Code Blue Alert issued by the Bergen County Office of Emergency Management is still in place until Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 12 p.m. The National Weather Service's predicted conditions, which specify Code Blue requirements as temperatures of 32 degrees Fahrenheit or lower or wind chill values of zero degrees Fahrenheit or less for two hours or more, are the basis for the alert. Extra resources are provided for those without shelter during Code Blue conditions. During routine responses and patrols, fire and emergency medical services personnel are urged to keep an eye out for vulnerable groups. Anyone who encounters an unsheltered individual in need of a warming center, or who requires assistance themselves, is asked to contact the Bergen County Public Safety Operations Center at 201-753-7762 or dial 2-1-1 to access shelter services.
